Win Mobile / CE – Skin

When you connect from a Windows PC, a picture of the remote device is shown, this is called a Skin. You see the remote screen in real-time inside the Skin. Use the mouse on your computer to click on the desktop of the remote device, or click on the buttons shown on the Skin. You can even use the keyboard on your computer to enter keystrokes on the remote device, easier than clicking your way through.

Examples of skins available are: Datalogic, Honeywell, Motorola Symbol, Casio, Samsung, Zebra ….

If you do not see an image that is exactly as your real device, we do not yet have your device in our Skin database. Instead you will see a default Skin. Let us hear from you, so we can create an exact Skin for your type of device.

Mobile Host Configuration

Many configuration settings are available right from the Host user interface. You can for example set the Host ID to a name of your choice. The Host ID is a unique ID used for selecting / specifying which device you want to remotely access. You can also define authentication method, which controls who gets access. For example setting a password or require that a user at the device confirms an access attempt, or perhaps use mDAC, WiseMo’s central solution for managing who may do what on which devices.

There are more advanced settings available to help you tailor the Host to your specific needs and requirements. All settings are available via our Host configuration manager, a Windows program so you from the comfort of your PC can do the configuration. This includes the most advanced security and connectivity settings, for example the use of two-factor authentication. You can download the Configuration Manager to your Windows PC from here:

Mobile Host Configuration Manager

Connect your device to a Windows PC and start the Host Configuration Manager on the PC.

The program will try to detect your device, load the configuration file and permit you to make and store changes.

Alternatively, you can also create a completely new file or copy an existing Host.xml file to the PC, define the settings you want, then place the file back to the device, in the Host folder.

Configuration settings are stored in an XML file. This file is deployed to the Mobile Host folder on the device, for example directly from your PC, or via upload to a WiseMo myCloud domain, from where it can be deployed together with the Mobile Host installation file. Or perhaps use an MDM solution to deploy the configuration.

For large scale deployment, various other options are also available, e.g. to suppress request for user input during installation of the Host module, or the creation of an installation file tailored to your need.

Multi-layered security

To achieve secure remote control, every aspect of the WiseMo software is designed with your security in mind. We’ve integrated multiple encryption methods to protect and guard your business-critical information. We start with industry-leading 256-bit AES encryption and a 2048 bit dynamic key exchange using the Diffie-Hellman method. Then we add a three-part security model that defines who has access, what they can do and documenting who did what and when. Central management of who may do what on which computers or defined on each end-point. Furthermore, you can protect myCloud user accounts as well as the end-point computers and devices with two-factor authentication, where a constantly changing verification code must be entered to gain access.

Win Mobile / CE – requirements

A number of distribution packages are available for Windows Mobile / Windows Compact Embedded devices, irrespective of device vendor ( Motorola, Zebra, Casio, ….. )

The packages are available as a .CAB package for installation directly on the Mobile device and often also as an .MSI package for installation via a Windows PC.

The .MSI installation file includes the Mobile Host Manager, a Windows PC program for configuration of the Mobile Host module.
